Curds Hall Barn Wedding Videographer // Fern & Gary

Introduction

When Fern & Gary asked me to be their Curds Hall Barn Wedding Videographer, I was delighted to film at this stunning venue in West Norfolk.

In this blog i’ll be sharing my experience of their wedding day and highlighting some of the great vendors they hired to bring their vision to life.

History

Curds Hall Barn dates back to the 17th century, but was lovingly renovated in 2018 after it was used for a family wedding on the family farm. Curds Hall Barn is widely regarded as one of the best wedding venues in West Norfolk.

The Morning

The day of Fern and Gary’s wedding was bright and sunny and I arrived early to get establishing and detail shots prior to the guests arriving.

I also had the pleasure of meeting with Events Manager Eleanor on my arrival at the venue. Eleanor manages the venue along with events coordinator Evie, and I found her to a warm and welcoming host. Throughout the day I noted Eleanor’s close working relationship with the couple and her attention to detail in ensuring the day ran smoothly. A true pro!

Next I went to meet Gary at the nearby Stratton’s Hotel in Swaffham (which is perfect for hosting the groom and extended wedding party).

Gary and I had chatted a couple of times via video call, but it was great to finally meet in person. After introducing myself to Garys crew, I focused on getting a variety of shots of the groomsmen, from candid moments, to a more structured sequence of Gary getting his tie and jacket on.

I was super happy with how these shots turned out.

Next I went to meet Fern at The Old Coach House, a beautiful 5-bedroom barn conversion, around a 10 minute walk from Curds Hall Barn, and supplied by the venue.

I met Daniel Robinson Photography and content creator Jasmine from Unfiltered Social while Fern and her Bridesmaids were having make up done by Webby MUA.

Having never worked alongside a wedding content creator before it was interesting to learn more about this emerging craft in the wedding industry.

Feeling delighted with the natural footage I had captured of Fern and the Bridesmaids, I returned to the venue to setup for the ceremony and introduce myself to the celebrants from Norfolk Registry Office.

Planning and organisation are essential skills for any Curds Hall Barn Wedding Videographer, so I I allowed myself 45 mins to setup my tripods and microphones and communicate my intentions with the other vendors.

The Afternoon

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed drinks from Tall Orders in the sunshine, before enjoying a wedding breakfast in the Old Woodshed. This allowed me to get some great candid shots of the guests enjoying the sunshine.

The Evening

After the food and speeches were wrapped up, the sun was casting some beautiful golden rays, so we took to the nearby trees and woodlands to get some stunning couple portraits.

My day finished with capturing some top tier moves on the dance floor, followed by some delicious wood fired pizza from East Coast Pizza Company.

I throughly enjoyed my experience as a Curds Hall Barn Wedding Videographer and hope to film there again soon.
