Wedding Videography Norfolk

If you’re meeting with a wedding videographer for the first time it can be useful to know what questions you should be asking to ensure they’re a good fit for your wedding.

In this article i’ll be discussing some of the FAQ’s I cover in my first meeting with a couple to ensure they have all the information they need to make an informed choice.

About the Author

I’m Chris Chadwick is a Wedding Videographer based on the Norfolk Coast and filming weddings throughout the UK. If you’re looking for wedding videography in Norfolk you can find out more about my work here.

Do I want to invite them to my wedding day?

The first question is one you should ask yourself after your first meeting. Although you may like the videographers work, it’s just as important to establish if you want to invite this person to be part of your wedding. You’re likely to spend a number of hours in the company of your videographer, so it’s important to find someone you get along with and whose company you enjoy.

Consider your overall impression of the wedding videographer, did they seem friendly and approachable? Did they put you at ease? Did they seem knowledgeable and organised? Have they communicated well? If the answer to any of those questions is no then it’s likely they are’nt good fit for you, and you may want to consider alternative suppliers of wedding videography in Norfolk.

How much will it cost?

Prices for Wedding Vidoegraphy in Norfolk start from around £1000 and can be £4000 plus in the luxury market. Hopefully you will have established the cost of the wedding videography in your initial communication, but ensure you’re clear on the exact cost of the package you’re interested in. If your videographer is not based in the same county as you, ensure you have established if there’ll be any additional costs such as travel expenses.

How much is the deposit for wedding videography and is it refundable?

It’s worth asking what your wedding videography deposit will be, and under what circumstances and is refundable in the event of cancellation. Generally deposits in the wedding industry are none refundable so it’s worth finding out what to expect if your plans are disrupted.

When will my film be delivered?

Editing a wedding film can take 20 - 40 hours depending on the scope and complexity of the project. Six to eight weeks is a typical time frame for a ten minute highlight film to be completed, particularly if your wedding takes place towards the end of the wedding season.

Ensure you’re clear on the estimated time frame for your wedding film to be completed so you have the correct expectation.

I deliver my wedding films via a personalised online gallery where you can stream, download and share your film. You can see an example here.

Do you share your wedding videography on social media?

Having mutual expectations on sharing your film is important to ensure a harmonious relationship with your videographer. In order to promote their work wedding videographers need to post their films on various social media platforms to attract prospective clients.

In my own business my approach is to ensure I clearly communicate my approach to social media practices at the initial phone call.

Once the film is ready I ensure my couples have the film to themselves for a week or so before I share any content. I also have a discussion with the couple to ask if there are any parts of the film they do not want to be shared. For example a bride or groom appearing very emotional during a wedding ceremony.

Do you choose the music?

Unless you plan to license a song from a mainstream record label your videographer is likely too use royalty free music from a platform such as Music Bed or Epidemic Sound. Ensure you have communicated your music tastes to your videographer to ensure you get the genre of music you want in your film.

You can approach song choice in one of two ways; you can either let your videographer choose the song for you based on your tastes, or if you feel strongly about choosing the music you could ask to browse the song choices on their music platform to find a song you love.

What happens if they’re ill on the day?

In the unlikely event your videographer is ill on your wedding day it’s worth asking if your videographer has a backup plan. Most vendors will have relationships with other local videographers to provide sickness cover. If they are unable to source a replacement ensure you are clear on the refund policy.
